The Instant Math Series is a set of productivity tools for teachers and parents. Have you ever checked a child's math problems, and found that you were spending nearly as much time as they did solving them? Who's the one going to school? The Instant Math Series will prepare tests or worksheets for you, as well as the answer keys.
Several improvements have been made in version 2.0 of the series:
Ñ You now have even more control over difficulty level of the problems (beyond version 1.2). For instance, separate preferences for control over negative answers, maximum number of digits, and remainders are now present.
Ñ The release version is now a standalone application.
Ñ All four products (Instant MathSheet, Instant Fractions, Instant Decimals, and Instant PerCents) have now been rolled into one. This should save hard disk space for our users.
Using the application:
1. After double-clicking on the Instant Math Series icon, it will start up and take you through the introduction. Then you arrive at the Main Menu, from which you can choose the type of worksheet you want to create, or other options.
2. Sound output can be adjusted or turned off from within the application (for use in a classroom setting). You do not have to use a Control Panel to change the volume. The Preferences screen contains choices that will enable you to set many parameters for the worksheets.
The Preferences screen also contains the password protection feature. Teachers and parents can choose to leave the password protection turned off, or change the password. The Instant Math Series ships initially with the password protection turned off. If you should decide to change the password, be sure to remember and write down the password! You will need the password to access the preferences in the future. This password protection enables teachers and parents to set the preferences and feel secure knowing that students will not change them. NOTE: The demo version of Instant Math Series does have a password, but you won't be able to use the feature until you purchase the full version. When you do so, we will let you know what password the program ships with.
To save any preferences you have chosen, click on the "Save All Preferences" button. Your preferences will also be saved even after you quit from the application. The next time you start up the program, the volume and other preferences will be those you have chosen and saved.
3. The Instant Math Series will prepare tests or worksheets, as well as the answer keys. Each time you click on the "Generate New Numbers" button on a worksheet card, new random math problems appear. If you wish to see the bottom half of the page on screen, you can click on the "See More at Bottom of Page" button. Please note that this isn't necessary for printing the entire page (all of the problems will show up on the printed page). Then you can print the worksheet and an answer key. (Don't click on the "Generate New Numbers" button until you have printed both the worksheet and the key for the numbers already on screen).
4. Printing hints: If you experience problems with printing, make sure you have the appropriate driver for your printer installed in the System Folder. Check all cables and printer lights. Insert paper correctly into the printer. Use the Chooser (under the Apple Menu) to select the printer.

Assuming you have enough available RAM, you can raise this allocated amount of memory by taking the following steps:
a. Quit from the Instant Math Series.
b. Find the icon for the Instant Math Series. Click only ONE time on the Instant Math Series icon, to select (highlight) it.
c. From the File Menu, select "Get Info."
d. The current size of the memory allocated to the program appears in the lower right corner of the Get Info window. Try raising it to at least 256K greater than the present setting.
e. Close out the Get Info window.
f. Double-click on the Instant Math Series icon.
g. Try printing once again. If it still does not work, you will need to follow steps a through f again, repeatedly raising the memory allocation by 256K increments until you can print properly.
If you get an out of memory message that tells you that you do not have enough memory to run the Instant Math Series, then you should consider buying more RAM in the form of SIMMs for your Macintosh. Your local Apple dealer can assist you in the selection and installation of these SIMMs. The Instant Math Series runs optimally under more RAM, and you will find the extra RAM useful with many other newer programs and systems.
You may also experience extension conflicts. Please remove or turn off any unnecessary extensions and control panels if you experience problems with the Instant Math Series. Commercial programs are available to help you manage extensions. Under System 7, you can restart your computer, and hold down the shift key until you see the message "Extensions off."

Only the Instant Math Series Demo may be copied, uploaded to online services, placed on shareware CD and diskette collections, or given to others. The demo has a limited assortment of worksheets. You can obtain the full version only by registering the shareware.
